The Best Hold Factor Is All In The Beeswax
As with most hair products, you only need to use a small amount of this balm to cover the whole beard and the skin underneath. I used the back of my fingernail to scrape a small amount. The balm is colorless and was quite thicker than other balms like Honest Amish for example, which made it difficult to scrape it out sometimes. With a good amount of pressure and friction the balm melts into a soft pomade. I hate clumps so I was nervous it might not blend well due to the thickness and some products are known to be too waxy that they don't melt properly.
After my first application, it left some wax and grease in my beard that would soak in after some time giving my hair a soft and manageable feel to it. Once it blends in my beard takes on that natural feel with no greasiness or stickiness when touched. I can immediately notice the thickening effect it has on the beard from the hold and shape from the beeswax
How Strong Is The Hold?
With the higher wax content of this product really gives off some stronger hold and styling potential but I'm not sure if I would recommend it for very long beards. Currently mine is about 2 inches long and I achieve a gentle hold that keeps my facial neat for a full day and helps the hair stay smooth, straight and laying down flat.
For anyone who needs more control and styling over their beard, this is the product to look at. Oil products fall short as they are used to address specific problems like itching and sensitive skin. Balms on the other hand, are great for shaping and styling as well as acting as a conditioner. But when looking at a good balm for styling, beeswax will give you that thicker looking beard with a strong hold and hydration.
The beeswax gives Liberty beard balm a more matte finish compared to other products that give your beard a shine or gleam. Because of the wax properties I've been using this balm first thing in the morning before I walk out the door to keep my beard in check throughout the day.

With a mix of botanical oils to create a more elegant beard, the first thing you'll notice after opening the tin is the unmistakable and unique scent of eucalyptus. It's a subtle scent that can be described as woody and minty flavors that create an outdoorsy sensation. I don't even know if that makes sense but the smell sure isn't offensive to the nose. If you can get your hands on some eucalyptus products, give them a sniff and you'll be surprised how refreshing the aroma is.
Eucalyptus is considered the top note and comes with antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Although the scent is nice it will dissipate as with other balms.
